|
|
When doing a Stage 2 installation using the Gentoo Linux 2004.3.x86 Handbook I get to Code Listing 10: Activate the userlocales USE flag especially for glibc
# mkdir /etc/portage
# echo "sys-libs/glibc userlocales" >> /etc/portage/package.use
When I type in the firt line I get an error that that directory cannot be found. What am I doing wrong? If I skip that will I encounter any errors. _________________ Gentoo and I have an On-Off relationship.... |

well, you have to make directory "/etc/portage", so you'll have to type `mkdir /etc/portage`, it WILL work. btw, execute it from the chrooted environment |

When I: # chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash
I get: livecd / #
Then i try: #env-update
and all i see is >>> Regenerating /etc/ld/so/cache...
The handbook says it should say * Caching service dependencies...

nothing, it's ok (service dependencies are probably cached already). |
