I did an 'emerge system' yesterday, but after rebooting, my gnome desktop is behavoring wierdly. That is, i can't click on a windows' title bar and drag it anymore -- the desktop becomes useless....

it seems that all windows are missing borders

in my /etc/conf.d/rc.conf:

gdm for display manager
Gnome for sesson

When starting metacity, the borders around the window come back.. none of the bars.. then within a minute after starting metacity, the system crashes back to the login.. when logging in again, the borders are gone again.. and so on and so on... :?

Turns out the saved session content is either broken or incompatible somehow. remove the session info under .gnome2 and use the default gnome session seem to solve the problem.

.gnome2 should be a hidden directory in your home directory.
