Altra domandina che mi viene in mente, magari è una domanda idiota.. io uso gentoo-dev-sources e il dvd writer non è supportato bene, non è che magari c'è un kernel che invece lo supporta? O i drivers sono cmq sempre gli stessi...

Anche perche' continuare a chiamare le 2.6 "development" e' un po' anacronistico  ... nel frattempo pero' la convenzione e' questa.

Infatti sta' succedendo anche per i vanilla sources..... cmq il fatto e' che per ora non esiste ancora una vera e propria serie di sviluppo. Linus dice che fino a quando riuscira' a gestire le cose cosi' come stanno con subversion, non fara' nessuna serie di sviluppo.

In linea di massima si, a meno di patch particolari. Che problemi hai? Perché pensi che sia colpa del kernel?
Per il discorso "sources vs. dev-sources"... come riportato dall'ultima GWN presto i vari 2.6 verranno messi nella normale linea "sources".

Il mio problema è che burno un DVD+R, apparentemente senza problemi, ma poi non riesco a leggerlo, mi dà un bel

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

Siccome col programma Gear Pro Linux riesco a burnarli correttamente, tenendo conto del fatto che questo programma siste per win e hanno fatto il port.. (si saranno riscritti le api), penso sia il kernel.. oppure boh.. magari cdrecord-proDVD o dvd+rw-tools che non supportano il mio writer coi dvd+r

prova k3b, oppure più probabilmente prova da root....
dalla serie 2.6.8 in poi è stato modificato l'accesso al dvd e ora, per questioni di sicurezza, la masterizzazione funziona solo da root, a meno di patch... speriamo la cosa si risolva presto, comunque proava a mettere un kernel 2.6.7 oppure a masterizzare da root...

è un dvd dati o video? xkè se è video credo che non si possa montare, ma solo leggere con i player (mplayer, kaffeine, etc...), un po' come i cd musicali. se è un dvd dati controlla di avere il supporto per quel filesystem nel kernel.

Che comando usi per montare? Hai provato con la forma estesa (indicando il tipo di fs invece di usare l'indicazione dell'fstab)?
Di quale versione del kernel stiamo parlando?

Cmq funziona con DVD+RW e DVD-R, non capisco perché non funzioni con i DVD+R..
Ho provato anke con la forma estesa.. ma niente da fare, uso il kernel gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.10-r6 ma ho provato anke col 2.6.9 e con i vanilla 2.6.11 rc2.
Non so piu che fare.. Mi scaxxa usare Gear pro linux |
