Hi everyone,

I am trying to install Gentoo 2004.2 on a Virtual PC instance, and getting an error at the following command.

#emerge system

Code:
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/os.py", line 154, in makedirs
mkdir(name, mode)
OSError: [Errno 28] No space left on device: '/var/cache/edb/dep//sys-apps/'

I'm looking for suggestions on what is causing this, and how I can resolve it...?

Thanks for any/all suggestions!

I think the No space left on device: '/var/cache/edb/dep//sys-apps/' says everything!

cheers

Yes...I figured as such as well....however....the VPC HD is set at 16GB's. If Gentoo takes 16 GB's to install the OS....
Sorry, I left that part out. So, looking for other theories.

maybe the disk needs to be checked? fsck is your friend ;)

or the mountpoint where you have /var/cache/edb/dep is to small.

cheers

Very possible. That's what I plan to try in the morning: trying another VPC image.

I'll post results. :D
