Hi
This is my first post on the Gentoo forums so Hi All
I am having trouble emerging ut2004 DVD edition. After the licence stuff it asks to enter cd1 in the drive (doesnt pick up the dvd version) - Do I have to mount the disc to a certain directory prior to emerge ut2004 ? The dvd edition has a dir for each CD.
Or am I able to copy it to a certain dir so portage can pick it up and do a hdd install.
I dont usually play games in Linux but I need this to work as I am going to a smallish LAN tonite and would love to prove to a few One-Eyed-Windows-users that Linux isnt just for Geeks with to much time on their hands.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Fixed it - Borrowd CD version from neighbor and used my Key - Excellent

Another solution is:
Code: | export CD_ROOT=/mnt/dvd #or wherever the dvd is mounted
emerge ut2004 |

Yeah... there's actually a bug where if it doesn't detect the DVD at first, it falls back to CD-based copying.
Anyway, it would have been fine if you mounted your DVD before running emerge. Also, it should detect it no matter where it is mounted, so that's not a big deal. _________________ Ex-Gentoo Developer

I mounted the dvd with
mount /dev/cdroms/cdrom1 /mnt/dvd
then
emerge ut2004
and everything started just fine. But then the install finished with the
Copying files from Disk 3...
and then it asks for cd 4 I can find it in another terminal so the files are there but it cant find them.
[Edit] - As the author has labeled this one fixed I started a new thread
