With a clean install directly from portage of wine (with its default config) I can't make Warcraft3's autoplay.exe or install.exe to work....
Even if I change the configs to accept my CD (and thats confirmed throu other games that the config works) i can't start it....
What wine gves me is e dialog named "ERROR" saying "No program start menu found"...
...and now I wounder how to fix it...
..please?
All guides says it is just to install and play... But it seems for me it is not that simple...
...and this was true also for the last "stable" wine in the portage tree.... |

Q: I get a dialog that says No program start menu found. when trying to launch an installer. What can I do?
A: Adding the following to your system.reg and user.reg files will fix this problem.
[Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Shell Folders] 1001283996
"Programs"="C:\\WINDOWS\\Start Menu\\Programs" |

Thanks, that did work for the installer...
....now comes the next problem: the actual game.
I did get that "FATAL ERROR" wich is fixed by removing/renamming the Movies folder....
....and I can reach the first menu.....
Once there I get an error-message from Warcraft...
...but I can not read it becouse it has no text...
...and when I look at the menu there is no text there either.... The buttons are there, and they works as they should, but nowhere in the menusystem (or at the page where you choose which campagine to play there are any text.....
I have not tested to start a game to see if it is the same there, mostly becouse I don't know where to start.... |

In order to play campaigns you need to create a saved game on a windows machine and copy the files relating to your profile over into your install. A bit of a pain but i haven't heard of a better way. |

Oki.
Well, my problem is solved in another way. I had cedega merged also, but that would not even start my install.exe, and since I found out why I have used it instead. No problems at all. |
