|
|
Here is my setup:
I have my own network behind a router / firewall box -- it does have a vaild external ip address not a 192.168. or 10.
there is also the rest of the office network with public ip addresses ( not 192.168 or 10. ) I am using iptables on the router / firewall using NAT.
I was wanting to know, if there is a way to use Samba to see the shares behind my router ( my internal network) as well as the rest of the company network.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Your explanaiton is a bit obscure (or I feel it like that).
Please specify the nets you have to deal with. You don't have to post specific or sensitive data. Or just edit my description to fit the situation.
(1) Public office net:
Real IPs, Windows machines, routed out to the Internet
(2) My private net: 192.168.0.0 (I don't think saying this to compromise your security bu you may change this or omit it altogether if you do not feel fine with it), routed to the internet via a router which has two interfaces: one IF to my private net and one IF to the office net.
Questions:
(a) Can I use samba on my private net as a client ot access the Windows shares in the office net?
(b) Can I use samba as a service to provide file sharing to clients that are in the office net?
[So please correct the above and repost it so that it fits your exact situation. This will help us help you ]
Cheers,
