Huh? You can really use nano? I found vim so much easier to use. I guess that is because I instinctively type :wq when I finish editing something. :P

I'm sorta disappointed that so many people voted to ban them. Although I agree it's mostly trash.

I also wish that you could set the forums that you view when you look at "messages since last visit", but I suppose that is not available in the forum software.

I dont like religeous threads. At least not here. I came here to read about Gentoo, not Christianity Vs. Atheism. Nontheless I think banning them wouldn't do much good, people would post protest threads instead, or political threads <shudder>.

It would be nice if we could have some sort of filter system that each member could set for their account.

Eg: don't display any posts that contain religion - based on keywords.

I vote ban all religious threads, and delete OTW.

I like the idea of having a filter, almost like the "adblock" plugin for firefox, but for the gentoo forums! Maybe someone should suggest that...

If you don't want to read topics unrelated to Gentoo, don't read OTW. Its that simple.

Sorry to disappoint you, but pjp is only joking. You do have to read all the threads on the forums. It's a real bitch for late joiners, because they have so much catching up to do.

Seriously, it's all there in the small print. Sadly it's a limitation of phpbb and the devs are having major difficulties trying to code around it. I'm afraid you're stuck reading everything.

Whoever said that those threads were like a train wreck was completely right. So I would add to pjp's advice with: If you know you get caught up in debates easily, be careful reading those threads. They can be very heated at times.

Never a more true word has been spoken on OTW. And now that I don't have to worry about postcount++ anymore it's even better because I can post silly stuff that I never would have before.

lol, we can turn kernel and hardware into a hotbed of religiousness, racism and telling people that the best way to make a database is to put everything in the same table and repeat all the information

Wow. Times have certainly changed. This thread is completely unrelated to what I expected.

Was a time, if you were on a computer related discussion group, a "religous war" would be about things that mattered. Like vi vs. emacs, or object oriented vs. top down.

Now we're worrying about trivailities like Islam vs. Christianity? I tell you, the level of discourse has *really* gone downhill!

No, this is GFF, and this thread has clearly passed its best before date.
