Was a side effect of that recent phpBB worm. We were properly patched against the vulnerability, but thousands of cracked servers hammered our servers trying to exploit a vulnerability that wasn't there. The result was a lot of visitors showing up in the statistics. ian! also applied some changes so that these clients got delivered empty pages instead of the page they were trying to access (less pain for the forums database). |
