[solved] emerge world alternates xorg 6.7.0-r3 and 6.8.0-r3

SOLVED as i wrote this. posted anyway because i couldn't find the solution in the forums after searching.

running emerge world first emerges x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r3

immediatly after this is done, emerge world -pv shows x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3

after running emerge world again, emerge world -pv shows x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r3

this continually alternates between the two versions of xorg. after masking <=x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3 xfree86 is wanted next. masking xfree86 then reveals the dependency ati-drivers.

emerge -C ati-drivers (xorg requires ati-gatos instead) solves the problem

doh! that was obviuos.
