Code: | xmodmap /usr/share/doc/kbd-1.12-r2/html/dvorak/dvorak-l.xmodmap |
You might want to
Code: | locate dvorak-l.xmodmap |
to find out the exact filename for your system.

Hello,
I'm trying to do the same thing Weary has done. Ideally, I would like to get left-handed dvorak working using setxkbmap. Does anybody know how to do this? There is a key mapping that xmodmap that's supposed to work (like you said psycho_seba) but the key mapping is all screwed up. Also, for console loadkeys works. It uses the file /usr/share/keymaps/i386/dvorak/dvorak-l.map.gz; could that be ported or something so [/i]setxkbmap could use it?
Cheers,

Hmmm.... the xmodmap still is being weird. I have no idea what keymap it's using for dvorak-l. It'd definitely not the right one, but it's all scrambled and weird. Odd... Anybody have ideas on how to use left-handed dvorak in X (preferably using setxkbmap).

I currently have a very painful wrist injury, but my line of work requires me to have to do typing every single day. I'm hoping to use the dvorak-r option for xsetkbmap, but when I run
Code: | $ xsetkbmap dvorak-r |
I get...
Code: | Error loading new keyboard description |
Does anybody know how I can get this to work? It would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Get Firefox

See:
/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst
Just stick this line in the keyboard section of xorg.conf: Code: |
Option "XkbLayout" "dvorak-l" |
|
