My computer was in the process of doin an emerge system when it hit a
| Code: | | !!! Couldn't download db-4.1.25.tar.gz Aborting. |
I'm a total noob to this and have no idea what to do now! I've searched the forums and don't really understand any possible solutions, I can't even get mirrorselect to work.
Does anyone have a step by step resolution for this?

Are you connected to the internet?
If so, you need to paste what it says above that line, which tells us what the problem stopping it from downloading is.
If not, you can download the file on another computer, transfer it across, and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles
