Just wondering if anyone knows if there is any support for the Sony dw-d22a-b2 DVD+/-RW burner or Sony based DVD+/-RW burners in general using either the 2.6 kernel, 2.4 kernel patches, or other any 3rd party drivers.

yaneurabeya,

You mean like this:-
Code:
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
hdc: SONY DVD RW DW-D22A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdd: SONY DVD RW DW-D22A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive

I can copy videos and use packet writing on UDF filesystem.
So far, I have only tested +RW media.

Excellent. What kernel version are you running though? It's an issue I'm afraid since the end-user I'm asking for is going to be running RH9 enterprise/FC on the machines and to my knowledge RH9's kernel version is still frozen to the 2.4.21 builds.

I'll be definitely be forwarding on this information to the person that asked me. Thanks!

yaneurabeya,

Heres my uname -a
Code:
Linux spike 2.6.8-gentoo-r1 #12 Fri Dec 3 23:18:16 GMT 2004 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

Kernel 2.6.9 has a problem with a pir of drives on the same IDE channel.

It should work with a 2.4.21 kernel but you will need SCSI emulation.
It may not work with stock RH tools though.
