Hi, is there a simple way to switch from Grub to Lilo. Is at as simple as emerging lilo and unmerging Grub ?

actually, the gentoo handbook isn't handy on that at all. Does anyone know how you'd go about removing grub and replacing it with lilo? I can't find instructions for that anywhere in the manual... |

Is there a specific reason you need LILO instead of GRUB?
GRUB is more flexible and I think it does more then LILO.
Do you just need help getting GRUB working? |

Yes
Code: | # mount /boot
# emerge -C grub
# emerge lilo |
Then you just need to configure your new bootloader. |

Okay, yeah, when I first tried to install lilo, I neglected to run /sbin/lilo, which is why it didn't start.
And the reason I wanted lilo over grub, is because grub wasn't working =] |

i find the gentoo handbook pretty handy. it tells you how to install grub OR lilo. so, if you got grub and want lilo, you just get rid of grub and then you are in the gentoo handbook's phase "installing the boot manager", to install lilo. _________________ noup. |
