I'm getting a kernel panic. When it happens, I can see the panic details on the console, but only part of it -- the rest has scrolled off the screen. My console is running at 1280x1024 so I get a lot of lines, just not all of them.

I don't see a log of the kernel panic in /var/log/messages.

I'm running 2.4.26-gentoo-r9.

How can I get a log of what the kernel panic says so that I can send it to someone for analysis?

I saw the Linux Kernel Crash Dump project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/lkcd/), but I'm not sure if it is really ready.

You can boot kernel with serial console plugged into another box for example
