Hi, ive improved my internet problem by emergeing coldplugs and changing the /etc/conf.d/net file abit, i can now ping my router and the light flashes so its working(i mean my network adaptor) buyt something is still not right because i cant ping www.google.com, www.gentoo.org or anything else only the router ive spent many hours today trying to fix it, my /etc/resolv.conf only says 1 thing nameserver=192.168.1.1(something along thos lines) is that normal??

BTW, im finding gentoo rather differnt from slackware, etc, because all the things are in differnt places etc. So in other words im a total gentoo noob.

Also, resolv.conf needs your nameservers IP's. I'm assuming you are on a cable modem or DSL line...go into your router admin..under the status page there show be some DNS server IP's somewhere in there. Use those.
