Hard freeze if I change ANYTHING networky...

Hi,

This has been happening for a long while now, and after several weeks of internet searching I've given up and decided to post and do it the hard way.

First, the spec:

P4 2.8Ghz
750MB RAM
GeForce ti4800
NetGear F311 Net card

Next, the problem:

My computer hard freezes (I.E. Stops, no mouse cursor movement, and no NUMLOCK activity (my usual test for an unrecoverable crash)) if ANYTHING on the network changes hardware-wise. Cables unplugged, WIFI devices disconnect, DHCP server reset, etc.

I've tried switching to a console then repeating the cause of the freeze to see if i get any kernel panics or other error messages, but it freezes before anything can be written, or logged (using Metalog).

Wasn't too bothered about this since nothing usually gets touched, until it started affecting Lan partys

Please help.

By the way I've tried some basics, I.E. different network card, memory, even kernel version. Using dev-sources 2.6.8-r6
