Anyone have any experience with HP 900 K-class systems? Biggest thing for me has been an overclocked AMD so I'm a bit lost with this thing.

Linux, yes.

Gentoo, no.

The HP series of mini-computers uses the PA-RISC chip. Currently, gentoo only runs on x86, Sparc (sort of) and PowerPC (not the same as PA-RISC)

There are a couple of distros that do run on PA-RISC architecture including PARISC-Linux and Debian. There are others, too, I believe. Check Google for more info.

well.. you could install one of the distros mentioned earlier and try this https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=28559&highlight=install as a second installation step.

let us know if it works (i still have a 713 and 715 in a corner) ;]

Well,
I must say I am really knew to gentoo, however the best way to learn is to jump in and break things. I'm going to try and get gentoo up on an HP-UX c180.

I'll try and keep this posted with all of my wonderous failures

I'll also try and include a running count of the number of times I am forced to slap my forehead for being stupid

I guess that I already have one for not adequately searching the forum.
