i've just recompiled the g-d-s kernel with support for the nm256 alsa driver (the soundcard for my laptop) and now when i boot up, it starts going through the normal boot process but stops on the line:
Code: | Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.6 (Sun Aug 15 07:17:53 2004 UTC).
PCI Enabling device 0000:01:00.1 (0000 -> 0002)
ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:01:00.1[B] -> GSI 5 (level, low) -> IRQ 5
nm256: found card signature in video RAM: 0x27ec00
nm256: Mapping port 1 from 0x2709a0 = 0x27ec00 |
it stays on that, and then just shuts the computer totally off after a totally random ammount of time (sometimes a minute, sometime several minutes)
does anyone have any idea what is going on? |

Do you have the same issue if the sound driver isn't compiled in?
Try to compile them as modules and load them while booting.
