|
|
I've just built a new PC. The last remaining problem is (I think) a keyboard mapping error.
Every time I press the " (quote) key I have to press it twice before the quote symbol appears. This is true of konsole, nano, and the various text editors that ship with KDE. If I save the file, and its, say, a config file from /etc, it generates an error about bad characters. If I look at the file via any route in KDE it looks OK. However, if I log out of KDE, and use nano after a terminal login, there's an upside down ? instead of a "
There's a similar problem with the ~ (tilde) and the ^ keys.
I've tried two different keyboards, with the same result.
I'm using xorg version 6.8.0-r3, and KDE 3.3.1 on kernel 2.6.9-gentoo-r6.
It's a British keyboard, and all other mappings appear to be OK.
The keyboard section of my xorg.conf (with comments edited out):
Code: | Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard1"
Driver "kbd"
Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "gb"
EndSection |
Help sorting this final problem much appreciated. |

it is a logitech INTERNET keyboard, so it does have extra keys. for example a scroll slider, which was supposed to scroll in IE <g> and now does the volume control.
if i choose pc101 in KDE, those extra keys will not work anymore.
//edit: just set my keyboard to 101key in KDE, and i still ahve to press a blank after a ~ and a ^
so, this didnt change anything.
as i mentioned.. it is working alright on tty1-6
just curious.. |
