Today I decided it's time to upgrade Sylpheed and I emerged the latest version... and now it only recognises me as a new user and won't let mi access my mail... or send mail.

Creation of the mailbox failed. Maybe some files already exist or you don't have permission to write here.


On that notice I first chmod -c 777 Mail (which had no effect at all), then I removed the Mail folder (no effect either) and at last tried running sylpheed from an eterm logged in as my user from my home folder - it still thinks I'm a new user and won't let me set up a new folder or use the old one. Annoying and I'm clueless 8O
