I am trying to reinstall Gentoo and have ran into a snag..
when I type
# env-update
The system should have sent this back to me..
Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
Instead I an error like this...
/etc/profile not available emerge sync should fix this...
After I emerge sync
I still have the error and I am still in the cdimage shell
Please help! I cannot get past this stage.

alays when im reinstalling my system i get thi error message too.
ive just ignored it

Try to re-emerge baselayout, that should take care of the problem.
