[OPINION]
"Free" and "decent" are mutually exclusive terms when referring to dialup ISPs
[/OPINION]
Regarding decent dialup ISPs, I've heard very good things about Panix. Unlike most ISPs, they seem to focus on unix first and other systems second.

I highly recommend XMission but of course you have to be in Utah to use them.... maybe post whereabout you are? some of the best ISPs onlys serve a small area... and even though you are looking for dial-up, http://www.dslreports.com can provide a lot of information regarding ISPs in general. _________________ +~+ Sometimes a good ole loving kick is all it needs +~+ |

LA Freenet is good if you're in Southern California. They're $50 a year. They disconnect you every hour, but they have unlimited access. It's cheap. I like it. You'll need to get a download resumer if you plan on emerging big programs, though. |

access4less.net is almost everywhere- unlimited, for $5.95/month. Works fine for dial-up linux. Only "problem" is it disconnects if no activity for 10 minutes. But long downloads go fine for 5 hours+.
