do you use a gui desktop environment? if so, which one?
kde mounts my devices automatically when i click on them...i didn't have to do anything other than emerge kde (although i'm using udev...possibly that makes a difference).
gnome has good removable device support so long as you build it properly...i think you need hal and dbus in your USE flags...possibly some others. in my experience it was superior to kde's...i could plug in and unplug my usb pendrive, and watch the drive icon appear and disappear in the nautilus "computer:///" window.
if you're not using one of those environments, then i'm sorry...i don't know much about the other options...i used supermount a while back with another distro, but i think it's deprecated now. |

you can use ivman, it uses the same dbus and hal systems as the gnome volume manager but it doesn't depend on any specific desktop environment. all you have to do is emerge ivman and rc-update add ivman default, you might also want to check the config files before you actually fire it up. _________________ This post has been over explained for newb-informing purposes.
