when using konquerer as a file manager, konquerer's application icon changes to the application's icon u lauched. for example, my default konquerer application icon is a blue folder icon, upon clicking a pdf file in konquerer, konquerer's application icon changes into acrobat reader icon.
this is very frustrating because, now i have 2 pdf icons on my taskbar. one is acroread and the other is konquerer - the imposter. and this prevent me from quickly and easily identifying konquerer visually.
is there a way to remove this 'imposter' feature? other than turning off "show application icon" completely from the control center?

 You can turn off icons on your taskbar...

yes, i know and i did mention it actually.
problem with turning off apps icon is that it affects ALL apps in the taskbar, and that makes it difficult to identify all apps in the taskbar quickly. : ( |

Yeah, it's difficult...
I think I know what tou're talkin' about. When the program you lauched from konq. exits konq. doesn't change it's icon back (to this blue folder). Pretty annoying, but I think it's impossible to change it.
I also notice that when you open sth that does not have any icon and choose 'open with' -> app, the blue folder icon does not change, maybe this is a solution? Do:
Open With -> Other... -> Your App (xpdf,ex.) |

Good news.
Wrote to the konqueror's mailing list and the developers replied that it should be fixed in KDE 3.4.  |
