Hi all,
I am a new user of gentoo, my primary OS is Mac OS X.
I tried installing Gentoo on my Dual 2 ghz G5 and for some odd reason my display and machine go to sleep after about ten or fifteen minutes.
Does anyone know how to disable this?
Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,

Hello,
What do you mean by "goes to sleep?", does it go into power saving mode or it just turns off completely?
Post the output you get from #dmesg too. |

I believe the monitor and computer go into power saving mode and it stops the installation process.
I haven't fully installed Gentoo because two days ago, the installation failed and I will try again this weekend. So I cannot yet type dmesg.
Thanks Siro for the quick input!
Sincerely,

do #rc-status and check if you have "apm" or "acpi" in the list.
Those are the power management services so we are going to stop them and see if it works
if you have apm then do:
#/etc/init.d/apm stop
if you have acpi:
#/etc/init.d/acpi stop |
