|
|
Guys,
I am considering buying BenQ FP931 LCD monitor.
http://www.benq.com/display/lcd_fp931_specs.html
I read somewhere that it comes with VGA cable only, but it has DVI input, so I would need to buy DVI cable if I want to run it in digital mode. That is not a big deal, I can get the cable, but there are so many types of DVI cables (DVI-D, DVI-I, male, female, etc) that I am just not sure what to get.
My video card has DVI-I input, monitor has DVI-D.
Thanks. |

DVI can carry a digital or an analogue signal or both. A DVI-A port is analogue only. A DVI-D port is digital only while a DVI-I port is both. So your videcard provides both an analogue and digital signal. Your monitor can only use a digital signal on its DVI port. So you must use a cable providing atleast the wires for a digital connection which means both A DVI-I or a DVI-D cable will work a DVI-A cable won't work.
