Hello all

I updated today (emerge -Duav world) and now I do not receive nor can I send email through exim which has worked flawlessly for the last 6 months. I am no expert and it was hard enough to set up in the beginning, but the problem seems to be present in the log files of exim which shows this

Quote:
2004-12-16 11:11:12 marc@omschaub.serveftp.net R=localuser T=local_delivery defer (13): Permission denied: creating lock file hitching post /var/mail/marc.lock.omschaub.serveftp.net.41c1b3a0.00007878 (euid=1000 egid=100)

Does anybody know where to reset the permissions and what to set them to. This is just a personal machine that I host my own personal email on and I would really like to get it working ;) Another question about this is will the messages finally get delivered if I can set the permissions right? or were these bounced back to the server that tried to send them?

The only package that I can see that might have hosed this up is mailbase got updated.. but who knows

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mailbase breaks it. Until it is fixed do 'chmod 1777 /var/spool/mail'

For the security implications have a look at
