I've got my gentoo box up and running with samba installed.
Using net join i've joined it to our NT 4.0 domain
if i do an nmblookup name where name is the name of the machine on the network i get the resolvation.
However if i do a ping name where name is the name of the machine on the network i get Unknown host.
I've got my WINS server setup in the smb.conf. Can anyone help me with why i can't resolve WINS?
THanks, |

hmm, don't know exactly but i think ping resolves per dns and not by wins.
so you have to add an '/etc/hosts'-entry or you setup a dns-server =). |
