oh i need the Realtek module ...
i can't get my RTL8139C NIC recognized by pci-setup.
I got it under SuSE but not Gentoo. And since i am sick of SuSE right now, and Gentoo looks like the right thing for me to start my journey into the world of Linux without the easy install Yast/Yas2 ...
i could set up the networking, static ip for my network and all ... just didn't get my NIC loaded/recognized ... and it obviously didn't have the right module under /lib/modules/*/kernel/drivers/net/* ... sorta at a loss here ... i also tried with a Davicom card (which also works under SuSE) and an old 3Com card. none of them got recognized nor any modules there ... |

I split your post from the previous thread because your question was quite diverse from the topic discussed there.
Maybe it's not compiled as a module but inside the kernel. You can use dmesg to verify if it was loaded. |

What are you trying to do? Installing Gentoo? Or do you have your kernel already compiled?
The name of the module is 8139too, but pcnet32 did also work for me when installing Gentoo 1.1a. _________________ Groeten uit Holland |
