I have an Acer Ferrari 3200 Laptop, running Gentoo 2004.3.
I have replaced the Broadcom Wireless Mini-PCI module, with absolutely no Linux drivers, with an Intel IPW 2200 BG which has drivers ( ipw2200 ).
Has anyone got these to work in 64bit Linux, the drivers themselves build and load , the problem is with the Firmware loading to the card. In Dmesg there is an error that the firmware has not been loaded, but in the debug output of Hotplug it does not appear to attempt to even load the firmware.
Has anyone managed to get one of these working
Kernel 2.6.9
Profile 2004.3

I have found that it is trying to load the firmware, but is failing with an error
ipw2200: dmaWaitSync Failed
ipw2200: probe of 0000:00:09.0 failed with error -5
I wonder if this helps anyone. |
