|

I'm trying to get my TV tuner card working. I have the video working fine, just can't get any sound. I have the Alsa modules emu10k1 and bt87x both compiled and set up. I can access both with the mixing programs. Sound works fine in other programs but not the TV tuner. If I set the mixer control 'TV Tuner' with amixer to 100 unmute it still stays as 0.

I don't know if this will help or not. I have an older Huappuage WinTV card working. The TV card is connected to the AUX port of my SBlive! card. So all sound is routed through the Live! card. Everything is compiled as modules.
When bttv is loaded it also loads msp3400 (sound driver) and tvaudio module (plus all the bttv stuff). Do you know if these modules are loaded (or whichever sound module is required)?

I have it going into my Aux port on my Audigy 2. Both the driver for my bt87x and emu10k1 are loaded when ALSA starts. I also have turned up the Aux (and even Aux2 whatever that is) inputs and still no sound. The bt87x is what sound driver my TV card uses. |

I'm not finding that option anywhere in make menuconfig. I have the other two though. Do you know where I can find it? Thanks for the help. |

easiest way is: nano /usr/src/linux
(assuming your link is correct)
you may also want to try and pass your tuner and card # to modprobe and see if that helps. they can be found in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/bttv/CARDLIST (pulling that from memory - but you'll find it). _________________ --You talk the talk, but do you waddle the waddle?

Ok, I plugged headphones directly into the output of the TV card and there is sound. So obviously it has something to do with the sound card. Thanks for the help. |

if you are using ALSA, there are a couple of things I would look at.
1 Kmixer would kill my alsamixergui settings at each reboot. I made sure that kmixer would not start at boot.
2 I just set the following.
amixer set Master,0 100%,100% unmute
amixer set Line,0 75%,75% mute captur
amixer set Capture,0 100%,100% captur
then as root
# alsactl store.
that did it.
BTW: Where in Illinois are you located? |

I don't think the Aux port works in Linux. If I plug into my Line in 3 instead the sound comes in fine. In Windows the Aux port works fine though. |
