Hello.
I own a Acer Aspire 1501 LMi, which has a Broadcom network card. The drivers for this card are bcm57xx (bcm5700.ko). I would like to install the drivers that are available on Broadcom's site, but i don't know how to do that. I want to do that before installing, because i want to do a stage1 install and i need this network interface to be working for that. ifconfig does show eth0, but whatever i want to do with it (like set ip) i get that that's unsupported, so it seems the wrong drivers were selected for the card.
I reckon i was able to use this card one time using emachines kernel, which doesn't seem to be available anymore, but afaik that was with the 64-bit version (amd64) and i don't want that because then i will not be able to use my wlan card.
Any ideas what i could do so i can do a stage1 install on this notebook?
Thanks |

Hmm, I thought the broadcom drivers were supported in the latest kernel. Have you checked the kernel first to see if your particular driver was there? _________________ you mean you are going to remember me by what I type....here? |

Have you tried doing modprobe bcm57xx or modprobe bcm5700?
lsmod will tell you what modules have been loaded though, so try running that first and see what it says _________________ the forums.gentoo.org poster formally known as metal leper |

This should work for Broadcom gigabit cards in place of the bcm57xx module. |
