|
|
Hello all, I wanted to try out the Alien Swarm mod for ut2004 which is ver. 1.2 in portage. There was a fetch restriction turned on so I went hunting for the loki installer (This is what I did for Red Orchestra). However I can't get portage to use the appropriate file. This is the error I get:
Code: | rockhopper root # emerge ut2004-alienswarm -av
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N F ] games-fps/ut2004-alienswarm-1.2 0 kB
Total size of downloads: 0 kB
Do you want me to merge these packages? [Yes/No] yes
>>> emerge (1 of 1) games-fps/ut2004-alienswarm-1.2 to /
!!! Digest verification Failed:
!!! /usr/portage/distfiles/alien.swarm_1.2-english.run
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size

Anyone have any ideas? |

Yes, some of my friends and myself have the same problem. Likely everyone does.
From what I can tell, there must be two Alien Swarm "1.2" versions. The one used in the portage tree might be older, or simply different than the one on Loki.
But the file will install, as with any other UT2004 .run mod. All you need to do is edit the /usr/portage/games-fps/ut2004-alienswarm (I believe) digest file, which contains the filesize and md5sum.
I have uploaded a copy of my directory a while ago for some friends and myself. You can feel free to use it, it's hosted on my server here though.

Should be some instructions I wrote there. As always, backup anything you replace.
As I said before, as long as there's a working .run UT2004 mod file for Linux, you can use portage to install it. I did so myself with AirBuccaneers. you can checkout the directory from above. I know little on portage, too. Feel free to use the AirBuccaneers one as an example if you want to make your own.
Oh yeah, lastly and importantly, if you #emerge sync it WILL replace any directories you modifed (not newly created ones that you made yourself and aren't in portage, though, like ABU). So, be careful on that. |

make a portage overlay folder and confgi in make.conf to have you own un-replaced by a sync portage tree with files you have modified _________________

The latest version of Alien Swarm is 1.3, and it's in portage. It requires the full version of ut2004 (i.e. not just the free demo).
If the 1.2 version in portage has an out-of-date md5sum, then file a bug to get it updated - do an emerge --sync first though, to check whether the bug has already been fixed.
To answer the other question, here's the info on portage overlays. _________________ Improve your font rendering and ALSA sound |
