Hi all,
I was potentially interested in buying a TV card for my P4 2.6ghz machine which is running the 2.6.7 vanilla kernel, 80 gig HDD, and 512 megs of RAM, and had a few questions.
First, the main purpose of said card would be so that I could convert some obscure videos that I have on tape or can only obtain on tape (and which aren't available on DVD) to some sort of digital format (optimally full-length DVDs).
I think I'd prefer a videocard which had a hardware decoder built in as it would free up other resources.
Are there any reasonably priced cards that could perform these functions which are also compatible with linux and easy to run? What more do I need to know?
Best,
Alex |

Though I never tried it yet with TV capture I have an nVidia 5200 FX with TV Out and TV In (it's a special bundle). IT has an embedded tuner IIRC. I installed Zapping (in portage) but I never had an opportunity to test it. The price (in Euros) is approximately 120. You might want to try it too. _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Just one more emerge...
