Hi
I've partitioned my hardrive like so:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hde1 * 1 63 31720+ 83 Linux
/dev/hde2 64 1056 500472 82 Linux swap
/dev/hde3 1057 238216 119528640 5 Extended
/dev/hde5 1057 136691 68360008+ 83 Linux
/dev/hde6 136692 156068 9765976+ 83 Linux
/dev/hde7 156069 175445 9765976+ 83 Linux
/dev/hde8 175446 238216 31636552+ 83 Linux
I have an extended partition (hde3) that is divided into 4 logical partitions (hde5 .. hde8). I'd like to turn partitions hde6 to hde8 into a primary partition so that I can instal WinXP. WinXP needs a primary partiition available to install.I have a suspicion though that I might break the partition table and destroy hde5 (i want to keep hde5).
Any suggestions? |

darkwing,
You need to delete the extended partition to do what you want.
Its a backup, repartition, restore.
Does XP really insist on a primary partition to install? _________________ Regards,

Computer users fall into two groups:-
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail. |
