I tried the skype forums but they don't seem to be very helpful. Has anyone here gotten Skype to work under linux? I can't get people to hear me, and I can't hear them. I tried chowning /dev/dsp to my user, I've tried chmod 777 it, I've tried running in user and root. The closest I've gotten is that I can hear the ring as root. But the person can't hear me and I can't hear them. My microphone works fine, I can record in another program with no problem and when I talk in it, I can hear it through my speakers. Gentoo with latest version of Skype, ALSA drivers for ESS Maestro 2E soundcard, using fluxbox (no KDE or Gnome). Any help would be appreciated. _________________ ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge windows-xp |

it works flawlessly, but sometimes i am able to hear the other while they don't, or the inverse ... but this problem is related to my connection :s (behind a restrictive firewall) |

Maybe it's because of my firewall. I'm behind a SmoothWall. _________________ ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge windows-xp |
