I have an radeon 9600 Pro and have set it up several times on gentoo susscesfuly but for some reason glxinfo returns this.
Code:
glxinfo
glxinfo: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have tried several things but I'm at a loss.

the only things I can think of that I did differently would be that I (this just could be why) i emerged ati-drivers with the ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" command but I though of that and remerged ati-drivers without the acceptkeywords command and tried still but the only other thing that was differnt is that i have an extra harddrive in here and have my second harddrive as "/" and have hda3 as "/home"

also when i do
Code:
opengl-update ati
as root I get
Code:
* Detected X 6.7 series, revision3
* This version requires >=x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r2
But that doesnt make sense cause I though ati-drivers doesnt work with xorg 6.8 yet.

well i'm too lazy to do anythign other than a stage3 right now anywayz cause soon enough (under 2 months) i should be building myself a new computer (also want to get this one all nice and good so that my mother will be able to use it compared to windows(not like that has anything to do in this post hehe))But i find I enjoy installing gentoo :) just not ironing out the bugs that i experience. Oh well gotta love sshd and the fact that osx has it built in :).
