|
|
I used to use RedHat and could make some windows (like konsole, gkrellm, and things in the windowmanager Waimea) translucent or transparent. I know that X doesnt support real transparency and that it is being faked but for some reason I cant get it to work on my gentoo box. Any ideas? _________________ I'm a nonconformist because all my friends are! |

Thanks for your help but i came across that one already. Thats a different problem. That guy wanted to make any program transparent, but I just want to make the things that are transparent already work (like konsole). _________________ I'm a nonconformist because all my friends are! |

which program do you use to set your background?
At least for transparent textures in waimea you have to use one that sets the _XROOTPMAP_ID property on the root window, e.g. Esetroot. |

konsole is pretty easy to get "transparent" ...you right-click on the main field and than select the settings->schema->transparent
for a transparent kicker, get "keramik" from www.kde-look.org and for transparent menus emerge (or compile forom source from kde-look.org) "mosfet liquid" ...i couldn't get it to work yet ...but as i heard, it should be better in kde 3.1 ...can't wait any longer _________________ tea+free software+law=hook
