|
|
Both me and my brother would like to redo our partitions. Like, resize some and move them around. We both tried qtparted, but for some reason, it wont let us do anything. All the options like resize/move are greyed out. On mine it doesnt even detect how much free space there is. Latest e-build. Any ideas? Sorry, wasnt sure where to put this post, didnt really fit perfectly in anywhere, but I figure there are often peoplehere asking about partitioning stuffs so. meh . Thanks for reading
Peace,

well, qtparted is your main option. How's this for novel, depending on how much space/ time you have.
Swap one hard drive into one comp. mount it and then copy the contents to a folder, seperate folders for seperate partitions, etc. Resize your partition using fdisk on the liveCD, then copy it all back over. Now, reboot with the liveCD, chroot and re-setup grub. done. then do the other computer.
If you don't have that much free space, i dunno. delete some stuff? |

Erm... fdisk is terribly destructive. Be forewarned.
For non-destructive partition resizing and movement, I'd use the qtparted from a liveCD such as SimplyMEPIS (which I consider very good). Reboot from the liveCD then qtparted can be found under "installation centre".
No matter what approach you choose, it pays to back up first. |
