After I supply my boot kernel/parameters (gentoo/[blank]) it just hangs at the screen with the loading bar. I can't really give you any more information because thats all I've done. I am using the install-x86-minimal-2004.3-r1 ISO. Thanks in advance...

If you press F2, you hide the loading screen, so you can see any errors being shown.

It's almost as if it is frozen... Pressing F2 does absolutely nothing nor does any other button. Should I download and try the universal CD?

EDIT: Note: I burned this CD AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE... 4x speed.

No, if the minimal CD doesn't work the universal CD won't work either. What happens if you immediately press F2 while booting? (Note that on previous LiveCDs (I don't know if this is still the case with the current ones) the keyboard won't be 'activated' immediately, so keep pressing F2 while there still is activity, until you see the console text.)

Edit: The universal CD is the same as the minimal CD, except that all stage tarballs are included on the CD.

Wow... this is strange, I just reboot the system (after about 20 failed boots) and it worked. I'm now at the root prompt. Thanks for your help though.

EDIT: Nevermind, It segfaulted, then I needed to reboot. Now I have the same problem...

Okay I used the gentoo-nofb kernel and it seems as if it boots with some sort of error... I'll start at the top of the screen typing out as much of the error as I can see that didn't already scrolll off.

It sounds like your CD is damaged. Try burning another one?

Or it could be that your computer needs a BIOS update. :-D
