After having my mail server up and running for about a week now, I'm still wondering about the following....
When email from the internet hits my server, I expect it to be scanned by Spam Assassin and clamav then make it's way to my user's maildir. However, I'm unsure whether I need procmail installed to aid in scanning because nowhere in my postfix configs (main.cf & master.cf) have I configured it to pass through SA and clamav becuase I haven't found any docs that instruct that this needs to be done.
Since I haven't told postfix that spam assassin and clamav exists (for mail filtering), how is my mail being scanned for spam and virii?
Both filtering programs are configured (clamav get the virii DB from clamv's site and SA has my config/rulesets).
Any info appreciated..
Thanks

I did. The problem is... i'm not using avamisd. So it's moot. Are you suggesting amavis over clamav? I'll give it a try if it's suggested.
[edit]
Wait a minute. This functions the same as procmail correct?
[edit2]
When I read that thread the first time, I suppose it didn't make sense because I never saw any reference to clamav in amavisd.conf. So... I've gone ahead an installed amavisd-new and configured it.
Apperantly, it's concept is somewhat like procmail..
Thanks... |
