Does anyone know how I would go about converting a .rm file into a .avi file?

could be possible using mencoder (belongs to the mplayer ebuild - make sure you have "encode" in your USEflags to get it compiled). IIRC the realcodec is in the win32codecs package.

btw.. also put "real" to your USEflags!
