stesso cosa per esempio con il comando updatedb
per quale motivo mi da questo errore???
non so se c'entra,ma

ma come va emerso? ho già installato gentoo su 5 pc e non ho mai dovuto emergere locate e neppure updatedb
questo priblema non l'ho mai avuto.
non sto dicendo che non hai ragione neh....è solo che mi sembra strano

c'è qualcosa in più!
quando fai | Code: | # echo $PATH
/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
|
dovrebbe darti solo questo! controlla bene di non aver "appiccicato" qualcosa in /etc/profile o nei config degli utenti

Ciao! anche io sto installando ora!
in un messaggio durante l'emerge del system durante il pacchetto findutils mi sembra diceva che in quel pacchetto non faceva più parte locate ed andava emerso slocate

Il pacchetto è da emergere e si chiama slocate, se nelle altre installazioni non l'hai mai emerso probabilmente era dipendenza di qualcosa, comunque anche l'handbook ne parla.

io non ho toccato il file /etc/profile ed inoltre l'unico utente che ho è root, che è quello che uso.
ho installato gentoo oggi, non ho ancora pasticciato io! eheheh
come posso risolvere?
inoltre come mai per esempio non funziona neppure updatedb? |

Credo di averti postato il modo per sapere se hai o no installato slocate e quindi i tools locate e updatedb. Il comando in questione è:
Se vuoi risolvere ti basta dare:
Per assurdo se non funzionasse, c'è qualcosaltro che non va, cosa che dubito.
Non conta quante volte hai installato gentoo, conta che hai capito come si installa e cosa installi.

hai emerso app-portage/esearch?

forse non hai letto ma ho risolto il problema proprio con il comando
cmq dicendo che ho già installato gentoo altre volte non volevo dire che so tutto, ci mancherebbe, non lo penso assolutamente!!!! è solo che mi sembrava strano, tutto qui! |

Si updatedb fa parte dello stesso pacchetto di slocate. Serve infatti ad aggiornare il db indicizato di slocate. Anche io ho dovuto installarlo usando la gentoo 2004.3 questo perche' e' stato deciso che se vuoi qualcosa lo devi installare tu (vedi dhcpcd)
