[solved] getting 1440x900 out of vesafb

Is there a way of setting up the vesa framebuffer for a resolution of 1440x900?

You must use vesafb-tng, which is new kernel vesa framebuffer driver found in the gentoo-sources (2.6 version). In the kernel configuration you can input a custom resolution.

Have you checked out vesafb-tng? search the forums for that or check out http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/vesafb-tng/

it allows you to choose that plus the refresh rate
