ok, I have samba setup as a WINS server.
wins support=yes
but if I am on a client PC, on the domain and I view the network connections details, it does not list a wins server IP, is this correct?

If you are using ISC's DHCP, you need to set "option netbios-name-servers" to you WINS server IP address in your dhcpd.conf file. If you are using a different DHCP, you'll have to lookup what the option is and how to set it. Once your DHCP server is set properly, restart it. Then renew the lease on the client PC.
If you are manually setting the IP information for each computer, then you need to set it for each computer.
Hope this helps... |
