Hello everyone.

Last week I suddenly started getting lots of corrupted parts in aMule. I have to download ~ 3GB to get a complete 700 MB download.

I've tried reemerging aMule, reemerging amule along with it's dependencies (specially compression and hash checking stuff), changing the temp folder from one disk to another, running fsck in all the partitions, running memtest 86+ to see if it is a RAM problem, etc. Nothing worked.

So I end here looking for some ideas on what to try. aMule 2 is just around the corner, but I'm not sure if it will solve my problems.

Thanks in advance to all those that answer this post.

Does this happen to all files or a just a few and are the corrupted files >= 2GB in size? That's the only case where I know that corruption might occur with aMule 1.2.x, but it might also be a supporting library as you mentioned.
Personally, I'd suggest that you upgrade to to the latest 2.0 release-candidate, since the 1.2.x branch is literally old and funky. ;)

I'm already on aMule 2 rc 8 and the problem persists. :(

Ah, ok.
Could you tell me what CXXFlags you are using?

It isn't likely a CFLAGS problem, because it started suddenly last week, but I'll downgrade them for aMule just to test.

I'm not at home, but I'll post what I remember:

Code:

-march=pentium3 -O3 -funroll-loops -ffast-math -faccumulate-outgoing-args -mmmx -msse -fprefetch-loop-arrays

I think I'll try taking out ffast-math, what do you think? Just for a try?

What do you think I should recompile?

If it started suddenly, then it seems likely that it could be because of an used library being updated, but I don't know your system, so I cant say for sure. The only time I've had this problem is what I used some rather insane CXXFlags to compile my entire system, but it might also be a bug in aMule itself. You could try joining our IRC channel (#amule @ irc.freenode.net) and see if any of the other devs have an idea.

I posted in the aMule forums too...I'll give it some more time in the weekend.

Well, just recompiled aMule with
Code:
#CFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=pentium3 -march=pentium3 -mmmx -msse -pipe"

And I keep getting the same errors

Well, I opened a thread at the aMule forums, the URL is http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=4601&sid=

My problem is still unresolved. I'm making some tests with aMule compiled by hand (calling the configure script with different arguments). If I find it to be a portage error or omission, I'll file a bug...

It's really hard to believe that I'm the only one who has this problem... :( I've tried almost everything
