Keywords: dvd burning, plextor 712A, k3b, xcdroast,
Hi,
I have been experiencing some trouble with my plextor drive burning dvd's from TDK or Verbatim at 8x. I have my gentoo system with every possible update in the latest stand. I normally use k3b for burning dvd's and got into trouble with my new tdk stack.
During the burning process I get stuck with an error OPC failed: Try burning at 1x.
This error hadn't happened util now, and the burning did burn at 8x some other time with cheaper dvds. I tested Verbatim and TDK dvd and the results were the same.
I went to my WinXp and tryed the same thing using NERO 6.0 Ultra. It worked without an error.
As I said everything worked perfectly until now. Since I don't know what is happening I would really like some feedback on my problem.
I did a k3b and a dvd-tools reemerge, and this didn't solve the problem either. The firmware my plextor unit is using is 1.05 which is the lastest.
I don't have any troubles with my kernel, since the drive is recognized properly.

This helped me.
EDIT: Changing from 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 to 2.6.10-gentoo-r1 fixed this problem as well (also I upgraded udev from 046 to 050). Though it still only detects DVD-R. Havent tried burning DVD+R discs, only MMORE DVD-R 4x and Verbatim DVD-R 8x. |
