OOo 1.1.3 won't compile with gcc 3.4, so I decided to give 1.1.4 ~x86 a try. I told my box to compile overnight. When I woke up I didn't have any hardrive space and the emerge had failed because of this.
/usr/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.4/work was over 2GB in size! And who knows how much bigger it would have gotten before the compile finished. I can't imagine why it could take up that much room while compiling. I have 512MB RAM so it shouldn't be using a ton of swap either. I didn't have this problem with 1.1.3, but I had more free space when I compiled that too.
What's strange is that when I did ls -lh it showed this:
Code: |
total 5
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 864 Dec 30 00:34 build-info
drwxrws--- 2 portage portage 144 Dec 30 00:34 temp
drwxrwxr-x 153 root root 4192 Dec 29 14:18 work
|
That is a tiny amount of space. But when I did rm -r work I gained 2GB!
Is it just me or OOo 1.1.4 shouldn't take this much space? |

OOO needs about 3GB of space in /var/tmp/portage. |
