well..

i got a new n-tech router that doesn't seem to work without it's own firewall. i've unblocked port 873 for both stream and datagram sockets but emerge's dns insists to resolve all adresses to 1.0.0.0. and yes, i do have http, ftp, ssh, etc. connectivity.

i don't know what to do. ideas, anyone?

(btw, i posted this here because it doesn't seem to be an emerge problem)

Do you need to set the HTTP_PROXY and FTP_PROXY variables in /etc/make.conf maybe?

The variables in /etc/make.conf only affect emerge's behaviour, nothing else. For instance I had to add these entries to my /etc/make.conf:
Code:
FTP_PROXY="http://10.0.0.1:3328"
HTTP_PROXY="http://10.0.0.1:3328"

HTH.

I had a similar problem and had to change my nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf since the dhcpd was auto setting it to 192.168.0.1.

You can manually change it and it should fix it for a while, but you may have to modify the dhcpd command when eth0 comes up (can't remember which file it is off the top of my head, but the install guide discusses it) to tell it not to change resolve.conf (-R option).
